To create one China-wide wind industry event and ensure the continued advancement of the wind energy industry in China, the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) and the Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA) will host an annual China International Wind Energy Exhibition. This event will provide a platform for experts, decision-makers and manufacturers to share best practices, developers and investors to exchange and display technology, all to promote the rapid and healthy development of wind energy industry in China and beyond.

With the rapid growth of China’s wind power industry, there has also been an increase in wind energy exhibitions in various regions in China over the past few years. China lacks one, unified, comprehensive wind industry event, such as exists in other mature markets. At multiple, small events, exhibitors cannot achieve desired results, and participants cannot obtain full information. Without one comprehensive high-quality event, equipment manufacturers’ exhibition demand cannot be met and experts have no platform to share their knowledge. This may have a negative impact on the industry’s development.

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)

As the wind energy industry has expanded, the leading wind power associations around the world are increasingly linked through overlapping membership and bilateral activities. Global institutions and agreements - from the Kyoto Protocol negotiations, to the publications of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the International Energy Agency, and the World Bank’s funding priorities – all require a united response from the wind energy industry.

GWEC brings together the major national, regional and continental associations representing the wind energy sector, and the leading international wind energy companies and institutions. With a combined membership of over 1,500 organisations representing 99 % of the world’s more than 80 GW installed capacity, GWEC’s member associations represent the entire wind energy community.

GWEC’s role is to ensure that wind establishes itself among the world’s leading energy sources. The main objective of GWEC is to promote the development and growth of wind energy around the world through policy development, business leadership, global outreach and information and education.

The Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA)

The Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) was established in 2000 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC). CREIA obtained legal registration as the Renewable Energy Professional Division of the China Comprehensive Resource Utilization Association from the Ministry of Civil Affairs on March 25, 2002. CREIA has attracted distinguished membership of more than 200 from industry, academics, organizations and individual experts.
Functions of CREIA
During its operation, CREIA established the following priority functions in order to maximize its services to members:
CREIA serves as a bridge between regulatory authorities, research institutes, and industry professionals, in order to provide a forum to discuss renewable energy development at the national level and subsequently advise the Government of China on strategic policy formulation.
CREIA acts as a window to bring together national and international project developers and investors. It promotes technology transfer and raises awareness of renewable energy investment opportunities through an online Investment Opportunity Facility and regional networking and training activities.
CREIA provides a network for its members from the Chinese renewable energy business community without access to communication within their sub-sectors, and provides a platform to voice their concerns collectively.
Mission of CREIA
CREIA promotes the adoption of advanced technologies among renewable energy enterprises in China and actively develops capacity for the rapid industrialization of the Chinese renewable energy sector.

Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA)

Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA) was founded in 1981. It is a non-profit social entity registered through the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. CWEA consists of a secretariat and some teams, such as wind resource team, rotor blade team, gearbox team, electrical system team, wind water-pumping team, wind farm team, and offshore wind team. Each team develops its work independently under the guidance of CWEA. CWEA’ mission is to service the national wind power industry by establishing actively a platform of intercommunication between China and abroad and acting as a bridge between the government and the enterprises and institutions. It devotes itself to the improvement of wind energy technology, drives the wind industry developing and enhances the social consciousness of the renewable energy utility.
